Editor's Review
MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to feel "weightless" with a "blur of effortless soft-focus color." Per the brand, the formula "provides immediate and long-term hydration" while "blur[ring] lines and smooth[ing] lips" and having "zero-shine." They have a bit of shine and slip; I wouldn't call them zero-shine so much as very smooth and more like a natural or soft matte finish. Like any finish with slight shine, they did wear down to a more, flat matte finish within an hour or so of wear. The consistency was lightweight, thin, and velvety with a bit of slip (a little like a silicone primer to me) and was comfortable to wear with a non-drying to lightly hydrating feel.

The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque to opaque with deeper shades having more coverage. There were a few very light shades, which did not apply as evenly and had a tendency to catch on any imperfections on my lips, whereas the deeper shades went on more smoothly and looked more flattering on as they were less likely to emphasize texture. They lasted between two and a half and six hours with deeper shades, unsurprisingly, lasting longer than the ultra-light ones.
I personally found the scent of these to be noticeably different, both that it was sweeter and less vanilla-based but I also got a strong rubber scent that came through. The scent did not linger for long, so it wasn't something that I detected throughout the wear, but it had a strong, sweet taste that was present until it was gone. Other readers who have smelled the formula in person did not catch any rubber/off-putting scent (my husband thought it smelled weird, not bad per se, but couldn't be more specific), and when I went back to double check each shade, each one of mine still had that rubbery note.

- Brand Description
Matte, totally reinvented. Delivering a blur of soft-focus colour, this weightless moisture-matte lipstick was developed to replicate a backstage technique: blending out edges of matte lipstick for a hazy effect. Its groundbreaking formula contains moisture-coated powder pigments that condition and hydrate lips. The result is the zero-shine look of a matte lipstick with the cushiony, lightweight feel of a balm. Fall for this soft-touch, misty matte kiss of colour.

Teddy 2.0
By Ana Maria 2 years ago.
Velvet Teddy is one of my favorite MAC lipstick, my almost perfect natural my lips but better beige. Teddy 2.0 looks slightly darker and more pinky-brown, still natural looking (and low maintenance). The warmer undertones make it slightly less flattering than Velvet Teddy on me.The Powder Kiss formula is a little too creamy for my taste, I much prefer the Matte formula from MAC.Teddy 2.0 has good pigmentation, while still easy to sheer out to look more like a balm. It applies smoothly since it's so creamy, but also moves a lot during the day (especially when I talk a lot).

Devoted to Chili
By Ana Maria 2 years ago.
I am actually truly devoted to Chili (the MAC lipstick, off course) and this shade is a more muted variation of it. Devoted to Chili it's a warm brick red. It's an easy going day-to-day dark shade because it doesn't really apply that opaque (I sometimes use it more like a lip tint). The Powder Kiss formula has a powdery-satin finish and applies in thin very `moveable` layer that I can feel on my lips. It transfers and fades easily, while leaving the lips slightly hydrated.

Werk Werk Werk
By Ana Maria 2 years ago.
Werk Werk Werk is a cool pink red, medium-bright (can't detect any darkness) with a comfortable wear and a buildable opacity. The color is nice, but not the most flattering on me (yellow warm undertones, light-medium complexion); it's the kind that also makes my teeth look more yellow. At first the lipstick applies very sheer, more like a stain or balm, giving a soft blurred look. It can be build to medium opacity easily. The Powder Kiss formula is comfortable, moisturizing, but doesn't behave like a Matte; it has a lot of slip and moves more like a Creamsheen. It's creamy, not weightless, I can definitely feel it on my lips.

Sultriness
By Cindy 2 years ago.
This is my first purchase of a Mac liostick with the powder kiss formula. I have to say I love the feel of it and the look it gives my lips. A lot of matte formulas are to flat looking. This does give a blurring effect to my lined filled lips. It doesn't cakeup in my lines or corners. It isn't long lasting and I have to reapply after 2 hours. So I wouldn't wear it going out to eat. Will I buy more lipsticks in the powder kiss formula? You bet! Shade soft pink.

Burning Love
By Ana Maria 3 years ago.
MAC Burning Love is a medium-dark berry-plum shade (a dark raspberry), with slightly cool undertones and a satin-creamy finish. It's one of those colors that aren't universality flattering; it needs paired down with specific eyeshadow colors and won't look good on everybody. I'm light-medium with yellow warm undertones and Burning Love doesn't look that good on me, it looks too pinky-plum.As a fan of MAC Mate and Satin lipsticks, I was disappointed by the Powder Kiss formula (it reminds me more of Creamsheen). The texture is velvety-powdery and I just don't like it on my lips, it's matte in finish but slippery, I doesn't completely dry out (although it's not sticky) and it moves as I drink, eat or talk. I can feel it on my lips all day long. I need to use it more like a lip tint, in a very light layer.I agree that the pigmentation is excellent from the first swipe on the lips, and it wears out decently well during the day. It's overall a little moisturizing, but it's not as comfortable as the MAC Mate finish lipsticks.

A Little Tamed
By Heli 6 years ago.
I like the idea of these blurry lipsticks. However, at least with this colour, it clings to any dry bits on the lips which kind of ruins the Korean lip effect.

Lasting Passion
By Fiya 6 years ago.
I'm like a mix of NC42 and NC44 (in Fenty I'm 300 with a little 360)This is not cute on you if you have even the slightest uneven pigmentation on your lips. My natural lip color is basically the MAC Kinda Sexy shade with very little pigmentation around the edges of the lips, so basically, the middle portion is the palest. That\'s the spot where a bright patch of this vivid red just flashed, and it just looks pretty weird to me when I look closer. Someone with more visible lip pigmentation will probably have a much more frustrating time with this. I\'m a Neutral Cool undertone, but for whatever reason, this color just looks odd on me (I bought this thinking it was a little more vivid and cool than Ruby Woo). Another reason why I found this frustrating is because the Sheer lipsticks of MAC are actually really good, and this one is supposed to look matte but apply, spread and feel like your typical sheer lipstick, but this shade in particular just seems more lackluster? The darker, deeper, more pink or brown shades are probably more brown girl friendly than the brighter ones. Other than that, I do see that this swatches and feels amazing, but to me, this doesn't feel like a $18 lipstick at all.
